Sorry Derrick. I'm not sure why I didn't send it. I think it must be my great age.

I'd like to say that I'm not always this unreliable but I rather suspect I am.

Kind regards.

From Mike.

Hi all.

Regarding accommodation for the meetup, a few people have chosen to stay in a comfy hotel in the evening of the 11th. The hotel is The Oak in Hockley Heath and is reasonably priced and not far from the meetup. It's also on the road joining on to the M42 / M40 so good for the Warwickshire NVCF too.

https://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/the...=total;ucfs=1&

I look forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks.

Thanks all.

Kind regards.

From Mike.
Ps. Don't forget your name badges. Anything will be fine but if you could put your forum name and real name on them then that would be perfect.
Pps. Also don't forget to bring some electrical-related junk for the pile. And a big car to take it all away again.

Sadly we won't be able to get up, SWMBO at all times and at all costs puts up with a lot but with an imminent house move looming it would be pushing it a bridge too far to come up from Cornwall this year.

Will bring double pasties next year.

Hi all again.

I'm afraid my weather-changing powers have been a bit under-par this year and it looks like it may be a bit gloomy.

However, it will be extra sunny indoors to make up for the wetness outside.

If I could re-state my usual nag again again again - If people could make sure they wear some kind of name badge with their forum name and real name then that would be brilliant.

Lunch will be at 13:30 (give or take) at the Drum and Monkey on Four Ashes Road but bacon sandwiches, tea, coffee, orange juice and all manner of other goodies will be served from about 08:30 in the morning until about 11:00-ish. Chinese / Indian / Pizza or whatever else can be ordered for those who wish to stay until late in the evening - and there is beer too.

Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

Kind regards.

From Mike.
PS. Sorry you can't come this year Stu - I'll be holding you to your pasty-based promise in 2020 though.

I'm unable to come now due to problems at home. Have a great day and look forward to reading about all the shenanigans and the stories of TV resurrection!

Had a fantastic day Mike and thanks for hosting such a good get together.
We managed to get that wreck of a GEC/Sobell up and running... Lack of EHT was caused by the desaturation choke mounted on the LOPT sagging due to overheating and S/C turns. Shorting it out produced correct EHT and good width. The tube was very low emission but after blasting it to death we managed to get quite a good picture. The frame was all over the place caused by leaking caps and high value resistors, soon corrected.

I discovered a core adjuster tool in the base of the cabinet and yes it had been twiddled. Quite crazy as these receivers never need realignment. It can be easily corrected of course with a signal generator but it was decided to leave it alone once a reasonable picture had been obtained. I think we had all had enough of it!

It had been stored in damp conditions for decades so not a bad result really. It was great meeting up with all my friends and hope to do it all again some time in the future. Thanks again Mike. Regards, John.

Good to hear the GEC was sorted out.

Did Jon Evans (aka Duke Nukem) bring it along as I noticed a similar set on his site? If so it was another item Barry the Bodger has been fiddling with!

I hope to make it to the next one, as I really enjoyed myself.

I bought the set at last years NVCF and after realising it was rougher than I thought when I glanced at it in the hall I put it aside and never attempted to get it going. and then I thought why not take it to mikes and see if anyone fancies a challenge and they did .

Cheers
Neil.
