Default A Very Dead Dynatron Ctv4

Spotted this on the way to work yesterday morning outside a shop/flat that's being gutted. At first I couldn't tell what set I was looking at (see first picture) Could you?!

A closer inspection revealed it to be a Dynatron CTV4 (Pye 691 chassis?) Now no one likes a heroic rescue more than me and I was all set to whip the front seat out of my Minor to get this set in. Unfortunately not only was it upside down under a load of scrap timber, but it had lost a leg and also one side of the cabinet had been knocked off. It was also covered in spatters of plaster and had been liberally rained on. Still had it's back though! I bet that only about a week ago this was sound and saveable. What a shame.

I see Mikey has a 25" CTV5 on his website. The CTV4 shown here is a 22" in a contemporary cabinet with roller shutter door and speaker below the screen (above the screen in my photo as the TV is upside down!) Same control panel as Mike's.

Ho hum, you can't save 'em all!

Steve J

It does look savable . what a shame , I hate it when something like this has only recently been deliberately wrecked when it may have been pretty immaculate .

Hi Steve.

If there's any remote chance that the legs are still there, please rescue them for me. I have a legless CTV16 that needs them.

Thanks and...fingers crossed.

Get the whole thing. If it cant be repaired, which is unlikely looking at it, as the tube does not appear to have lost it's vacuum, then the panels will come in handy to preserve other sets.

Cheers,

Steve P.

The front of that looks identical to my poor old CTV10 that I used to have, right down to the "roller" door. The speaker grill unscrews and the convergence panel is beneath and located on the left so you can adjust whilst looking at the tube from the front

That really is a shame, you can bet it did get in this state very recently!

Cheers
