Question Sinclair Ftv

Just found my old Sinclair pocket T.V.
Anyone know where I can get a mains adapter for it?

Unless you're desparate for 100% originality, your best bet is to buy a non-Sinclair, general purpose replacement power supply. You can get these from CPC, Maplin and loads of other places.

But to do that, you need to know what voltage it needs (V), and at what current (A), as well as the polarity (i.e. which connection in the socket is + and which is -).

Does it say anywhere on it? Or have you still got the box or instructions which might help you out?

Nick.

I have the original power pack for this telly.

It's output is quoted as "5.9V" and seems quite well regulated (mine measures 5.845V with no load).

The DC current rating is 100mA.

The center pole of the connector is negative.

TTFN,
Jon

Many of the switched regulated adaptors use the LM317 regulator IC. The output voltage is set by a couple of resistors (selected by the switch) so you could fine-tune the resistor for the 6V setting to give the required 5.9V. Most come with a number of different plugs too, and reversable polarity, so you could certainly organise something electrically correct fairly easily.

It wouldn't be the genuine Sinclair one though. If you want that I'd suggest a trip to the NVCF on 1st May as they sometimes turn up there.

Take a look here Arfur, ISTR the "headroom" of the regulator is a couple of volts :-
