Boots B/W TV
Here is a challenge I been given.
My brother is restoring a mk1 Ford transit camper and inside is little b/w tv branded with the Boots logo. I have no idea if it works but he has ask me to have a look at it for him, but more challenging is he wants to watch old tv commercials etc on the set from a dvd player. Does anyone know if this is at all doable My first thought was a dvd player with RF out but that is highly unlikely given the original higher quality of dvd would have defeated the object if it offered an RF out option. So I am guessing I need to inject the composite signal into the tv set somehow? Or am I talking out my rear ?? thanks any suggestions? technotel |

Some DVD recorders had RF modulators.

Re: Boots B/W TV
There are plenty of R.F.modulators for sale online, so that might be the easiest route, & would save having to find a DVD player with an inbuilt modulator.

Re: Boots B/W TV
Baseband input would be best of course. From my experience of the many 5" BW TVs I've seen you'll need to inject the audio too and that can be done at the top of the volume control. If anyone has a baseband input mod for these I'd be interested. I have a football-shaped one that already has baseband input but I've never tried it nor opened it to see how to do it.

Re: Boots B/W TV
Thanks guys. Yes I found cheap RF modulator on auction website, cheap as chips so not expecting too much but nevertheless cheap, so worth giving it a go.
Id be interested in the baseband mod as well |

I don't think it's against forum rules to submit a sample listing so we can check this if you aren't sure.

Re: Boots B/W TV
It appears to be PAL-I by default, which is what you want. These things usually support several standards.
This is it: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UHF-TV-LI...y/124243183329 It only appears to have inputs for composite video and L-R audio. A traditional DVD player with a SCART socket should have these interfaces, but an upscaling HD player may only have HDMI. No discussion of the seller please. |

These can be downloaded to a PC, then copied to a blank DVD, in fact this is how I do it. I download period TV shows & adverts to play back on my vintage TV's. Mark |

Re: Boots B/W TV
Thanks again guys
Glad I got the right one....the same one. my brother will only use a bog standard DVD player with composite output anyway. Yes tons of old commercials on youtube. Also old tv progs with old commercial advert breaks. |
