Default Unknown dialling code - Lancashire

Another mystery missing code or codes

Trying to track down the STD code (f there ever was one?) for ‘Town Green’ MNDX – a relief exchange for Aughton Green UAX14 between Ormskirk and Burscough just to the north from 23rd January 1968 until 28th July 1971.

On 28th July 71, Aughton Green was converted to a TXK1 satellite off Skelmersdale which had not long gone automatic as a Non-Director and became the GSC for the 0695 group of exchanges instead of Ormskirk which had been the GSC. Ormskirk then became a satellite. The ‘Town Green’ subscribers then became Aughton Green’ numbers .

The only information I can find re-a code for Town Green was that it had a direct link to Aughton Green UAX14 – the mobile was parked at the same UAX14 site. It was on Level 84 from Aughton Green.

Aughton Green was 0695 86 with following levels from Aughton Green - Level 82 from Aughton Green going to Ormskirk/Skelmerdale (0695) Linked Numbering Scheme , 830 XXX to exchanges in the Liverpool Director area and 838 was the ‘Speaking Clock’. 833 7 was St Helens and 833 15 was Formby. Odd that there wasn't the code 9 to reach Ormskirk which was its parent exchange and that the Speaking Clock wasn't 8081 - the usual code from c1960 onwards outside Director areas.

Question – Did Town Green have an STD code in the 0695 XX range ?

At the time of Town Green's existence, neither Town Green or Aughton Green had outgoing STD access.

What was Town Green's local direct code to/from its parent exchange – originally Ormskirk then Skelmerdale/Ormskirk LNS ?

I'm trying to add Town Green to CNet to complete the exchanges that can be dialled n that part of the World.

I'm also trying to establish if there was a 'local dialling code' between Canonbie and Langholm (both Unit Automatic eXchange No 13's) in the years before Subscriber Trunk Dialling arrived in the early 1970's. Both just over the Border into Scotland. Were in the 0541 X group of exchanges off Carlisle but now 01397 3 off Dumfries since the early 1990's (preparing for independence ? )

Both exchanges were parents exchange to three UAX12's and as they were only about four miles apart on the same trunk cable route, it would have been cheaper than routing the calls via Carlisle which added 30/40 extra miles !
