Default Help with Stellaphone track switch

Hi, I’ve got a Stellaphone ST454 and had it cleaned up in a local shop. However I meant to ask if they would look at the track switch and forgot!

The volume control clicks and works okay but the track changer is loose and just moves freely side to side, but can’t see what it should be connected to inside

Any advice most appreciated as I have a stack of tapes and mostly 2 track

Looking at my Philips EL 3541 (the ST454 is basically a clone of the EL 3541) I can see that the track switch plastic control knob has 2 cut-outs that engage with the plastic cam below it. When the switch is rotated from 1-4 to 2-3 the cam rotates and pushes up the spring loaded lever, the hook wire attached to the lever connects to another lever that changes the track switch setting.

Photo 3 shows the control knob upside down. The cut-outs on the control knob look pretty flimsy so possibly your control knob cut-outs are broken.

I cannot currently find my Stella ST 454 to compare but pretty sure should be identical for the track switch.

Looking at your first photo in Post 1, there is no sign of the cam and the fitted plastic part there has no obvious cutouts to engage with cut-outs in the control knob, so that is confusing.

Will have to find my ST 454 to see if it has anything different from the EL 3541.

On my Philips with the cam removed it looks like your photo so from that it would appear your cam is missing.
