Mid 1930s going by the design, I can find very similar models, but not this exact one.

Thanks

Have you looked on the excellent Philco Service database site?

I've usually found something on that. Alternatively the Rider Perpetual Service might have it.

I don't know how well that website deals with British Philco though?

There were wooden versions of the people's set. Just a thought.

How about a picture of the inside /chassis, I may have a radio that looks like the one in question. Mick.

It's for sale, the seller can't supply any other pictures.

Thanks,

I didn't think the wartime sets were branded, only factory codes.

I think Steve is reffering to the Philco 444 (1936) often referred to as the peoples set as opposed to a wartime civilian receiver (utility set).

Cheers

Ah, OK, I didn't know that, hence the confusion.

Visually it is quite close to the Model 99 Empire Seven radio of 1937.

Philco GB made many variations during that time.
Not all of them were based on the Philco 444 'Peoples Set' chassis.
Some were made for AC mains, or DC mains or battery operation.
