Default Hacker Mini Herald RP17

Purchased some while ago a rather nice in original box Mini Herald RP17

Getting round to fettling and see the label inside calls for VIdor VT1 or equivalent batteries x 2.

A google tells me the Vidor VT1 was a 6 volt battery but all the searches I've done suggests a PP7 which is 9v.

My question is will the RP17 run ok on say two PP3 9v batteries despite the makers applied label.

Many thanks.

Ooooop's - - - so sorry got it wrong - blame old eye's !

The label inside the radio "actually" says VT7 not 1.
