No surprises there then Robert - top notch artwork, as with the circular dials - I might have guessed!

Respect!

I have an update and a new question.

Question: I noticed a cut off green wire coming up through the chassis next to the output transformer and accompanying two other wires going to it. Tracing the green wire back it goes via other points to the 'E' connection on the back of the set - NB this is not chassis. I'm guessing that it was supposed to connect to the OPT maybe? There doesn't appear to be a connection where this should go, so...?

Regarding the warped dial scale, the heating and clamping procedure made a lot of difference as previous posts show. However once refitted there was still a slight gap down each side of the scale as viewed from the front of the set. Liveable with, but easily fixed. I found an old hinge part (see photo) and after cutting it down into two pieces and reshaping them, used them to clamp down the lifted areas at each end of the scale. No drastic 'modding', just a narrow strip of metal held in place using the dial scale's existing 6BA mounting bolts. I doubt very much that the metal reinforcement would have worked alone with the amount of warp in the scale as in its original state, it needed the heat and clamping procedure to reduce this first.

I've put the set back together now, here's some photos showing the revived dial scale, much cleaner and no longer warped. Thanks to all for the useful advice.

Any ideas anyone re the severed wire in post 23?

According to the schematic in the Trader sheet one side of the output transformer secondary and loudspeaker connects to the external Earth socket.

Thanks Lawrence. Well, it's all put back together now and working perfectly - dangerous, famous last words.. Anyway, it must have been cut for a good reason or the set simply would not work. Time will tell.
