Default Studer a810 issue

Hi all

I have the studer a810, it is having a error that causing it not to be able to play.
Everytime I press play ... it starts and then stop immediately.

Looks to me like it is in some kind of edit mode.

I don't exactly understand how this will effect the play like that ... if so ... any idea how to fix it ?

I noticed that the tape counter doesn't increment when the tape moves. This suggests that there are no tacho pulses from the move sensor (right hand side guide roller).
Without these pulses the system assumes the tape has ended/broken and stops the transport. I would check here first.

I'd thought of that as well but the fast forward and rewind both appeared to latch.
