Re: Commodore PET 3016
I've replied further to your oscilloscope questions in the other thread, you are more likely to get opinions about it over there I think. We'll keep this one for the PET itself.

Re: Commodore PET 3016
Hi- I contacted someone on a PET/CBM Facebook group and went through a few checks. For example, I plugged the tape deck into the PET and pressed play. I then switched it on. What should have happened is that the tape deck should have switched on for about a second and then it should have stopped. It didn’t, it carried on running which means there is a problem on the main board not the monitor apparently.

Re: Commodore PET 3016
That is entirely possible.
In order for the monitor to work, the main PCB needs to be producing horizontal sync pulses. That's what we are aiming to find out, whether it is or not, in part so that you don't have to go chasing after a nonexistent fault in the monitor. If there are no horizontal sync pulses, then the problem is on the main board. Either way, your scope will come in useful not just for this job but for a whole host of other jobs. Next to a meter, it is the most useful piece of test gear you could ever have. |

Re: Commodore PET 3016
IC problem solved. Needed a new one to generate the video signal. Never did get to use my new oscilloscope!

Re: Commodore PET 3016
Did you ever get those replacement ICs for the IEEE interface, were they OK?
