It's nice when a plan comes together.
I had this idea of building a speaker/ power supply for a Telefunken three valve set, the power supply consists of an LT TX for the 4 volt heaters regulated, a 9 volt neg adjustable for the o/p valve grid bias, and HT 120 volt full wave smoothed. the pot on top of the chassis is for adjusting the HT on the detector for best results surprising how low it is around 30 volts. the o/p TX was kindly supplied by Chris (Herald) .
The case was made from a sheet of aluminium, grill all cut out by hand, the lid on the power pack was from a Gecophone purchased from eBay just the case, no innards, I had to reduce it in length, the bottom was made from scratch, an octal socket was fitted on the rear. I am very pleased with the end results. It is just as I envisaged. Mick. Last edited by vinrads; 5th Mar 2021 at 12:52 pm. |

That's very smart! A particularly good job on getting it to look the part.

Re: It's nice when a plan comes together.
It could well be under licence , the case on the Gec one is 8. 3/4 " long where as the Telefunken one is 7.1/4" must have a different paxolin chassis . Thanks for the positive comments Mick.

Re: It's nice when a plan comes together.
Hi Stephen How does it perform ? well for a trf it's quite well behaved you do need a good aerial , I think one of the valves is a bit low, if I change the first two valves around that is the detector and first af amp I works better one way round than the other ,I don't have another valve, plus they are very expensive ,It may look like there are no tuning coils they are under the paxolin chassis laying flat .
Thanks all for the positive comments. Mick. |
