BVWS online auction.
Hi All
Following the success of the first online BVWS auction that ran from 22nd to 29th January we are looking to hold another one around the end of May. The January auction went smoothly with no hiccups and there were some great bargains, also some lots went way above what I expected so all in all a great event! We would like to make this a regular event even when the lockdown finishes due to the positive response we have received from BVWS members. Any further feedback / suggestions on improving the auction are welcome, but remember only active BVWS members can participate in an actual auction. The January online auction pictures and the list of sale items is still available on the BVWS website here https://www.bvws.org.uk/auctions/pho...online-auction Many thanks to Mike Barker for the fantastic effort in getting the online auctions going. Due to the lockdown members of the team could not assist in getting the lots documented / photographed etc. so cheers Mike and Jim! |

Re: BVWS online auction.
How does this work? Clearly it's an online auction so that's how you bid, but otherwise how does it work? Is there a bidding time 'window' for example? Is it kind of sealed bid or more like that famous online auction site? Thanks.

Re: BVWS online auction.
If you are a BVWS member you can bid during the time the auction is live up to the time the item you are bidding on finishes on the last day. The items finish one by one in sequence each minute after a given time on the last day.

Re: BVWS online auction.
Thanks. So the latest bid level is available to see until the auction ends?

Re: BVWS online auction.
The bidding and collection details were included in the January email sent to all active BVWS members with an up to date email account.
Another email will be sent for the May auction. However to clarify for those non-BVWS members who are thing of joining to take part in the next auction an extract from the email is below Bidding Bidding is the same as with eBay. For example if a lot is starting at £20 and you bid £50 then the system only takes £20 as your bid and keeps the upper figure in reserve to automatically increase your bids in increments up to your maximum if another bidder places a bid. So to be clear; your highest bid will only be your maximum bid amount if another bidder has bid more, the same or close to the same. Collection and Shipping info The BVWS WILL NOT undertake any shipping activity of auction items. There will be several regional collection points where you may collect your 'won' items from. These will be Rosyth Scotland, Rugby, Cardiff, Romford, Devizes and Virginia Water in the UK. International Bidders will have their items held at the BVWS store until arrangements for collection can be agreed. Moving your items to these regional outlets and the subsequent contact and organisation is kindly supplied by members of the Committee voluntarily and may need time to organise and arrange for you to collect so please be considerate to them as they are doing their best for you! It may be possible for items to be 'passed-on' via collectors so that they may reach you but the BVWS will not be involved in those arrangements other than the stated sites above. Neither will we (THE BVWS or Committee members) be held responsible for any problems with the items once they have left our hands. I hope that clarifies things. Now - who had fun in the January auction and what goodies did you get / miss? I wanted the Sterling two valve set but someone had deeper pockets than mine Last edited by Cobaltblue; 5th Mar 2021 at 6:29 pm. Reason: Added Virginia Water |

Re: BVWS online auction.
Announcement of the forthcoming BVWS Auction, collection and bidding information have all been covered in this thread, Thanks Dave.
I will close this thread until the dates and links to the next auction are published to avoid it going off topic. Cheers Mike T

Re: BVWS online auction.
The next auction will be starting 28th May and will run for 7 days, the same as the previous one. All details and arrangements will be the same as last time and as posted above by Dave Church.
