Re: Chroming screening cans
Hi Mick, you could phone the platers, but they may not know.
I wonder if they would put a scrap piece of SRBP through all the plating processes at the risk of ruining their tanks of cleaners Etc. I wonder if they would "paint" each cleaner on in the right order to see if there is any adverse reaction. There are aerosols that claim to be chrome finish but you would have to experiment. It looks as you would see very little of the screen. Yes I know you want it to be perfect. Just a suggestion. John.

Re: Chroming screening cans
Paxolin is quite permeable, it will likely wind up conducive after the plating is finished. You'll have the electrolyte from the etching and plating operations get into it mostly via the rough edges of the holes.

Re: Chroming screening cans
Bear in mind that things which are now a sliding fit might be significantly tighter after plating. There have sometimes been embarrassing outcomes where plated plugs will no longer go into plated sockets, for example.
Cheers, GJ

Re: Chroming screening cans
Been there GJ a friend that a restore Juke box amplifiers for , sometimes brings me some parts that he as had chromed that no longer fit together , this usually when the parts were badly pitted and had to be copper plated first, thus building up the coating ,the mini drill with a cutting disk comes in very handy for this all good fun , Mick.

Re: Chroming screening cans
You can also get galling and things sticking together.
