Default BPL multimeter

I have just acquired an analogue multimeter made by British Physical Laboratories made in Radlett Hertfordshire I’m guessing back in the 50's.
It’s in great condition but I have a problem with the zero adjust wire wound variable resistor. The wire has snapped.
Does anybody know anything about this meter it's called the Super Ranger model 380?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
