Default Original Moulds found for Tek Scope Tubes

Whilst clearing out Building 13 on the Tektronix campus at Beaverton they came acros a disused store containing the moulds for making the famous ceramic scope tubes.

Fascinating! I’d never thought that CRT’s were moulded in ceramic but it makes sense. I’ve seen film of the making of valves which seem to use pre-formed glass tubes but I suppose precise display tubes needed different parameters. Perhaps ceramic is the only way to achieve perfection in ‘scope tubes?
