Default Ferguson Videostar 3V36

Hi

I may be interested in a Ferguson Videostar 3V36, which is selling for a decent price, compared to others I've seen.

It has an issue with the tape being ejected seconds after being inserted.

Quote from description:

"Player powers up fine but when you push in a tape but it then ejects the tape automatically after a few seconds, this could be an easy fix for the right person."

My question is; how easy is this fix? I'd like to get one for myself.

Thanks

my first thoughts would be a fault on the loading mechanism, theres sevral plastic gears and a sensor light.
you would have to know how far it loads the tape before it ejects it and does the head drum start spinning first

I'll send the seller a message asking them, would it be hard fix or easy fix either way? Or does it all really depend?

Thanks

It depends back in the day you could buy every component of the loading mech but now you would probably have to buy a donor machine

My best guess is a dirty leaf switch on the front loading mechanism that closes the circuit when the tape goes down. I have the JVC version of the same machine.

I suppose that's the case with most vintage tech now.

I'll still be interested to buy it, but i'll keep a look out too.

So should be a very easy fix? I have very little knowledge of VCRs.

Thanks for your help

I bought this machine. It was due to the timer button being preased in. After changing the belts and idler tyres it plays great. I uploaded a video of it to YouTube with my other 3v36

Cheers

Glad to know it's up and running! I went to buy it and saw it had gone! I'd rather it went to you although, as you have a much better idea of what you're doing.

I ended up buying a 4 Head Funai VHS/DVD combo system for the same price from a local charity shop.
