Default Goodmans One Ten receiver stereo issues

A Goodmans One Ten hifi receiver seems to work without issues except when receiving stereo broadcasts. I can't quite make my mind up if the FM stereo sound quality is impaired, but tuning to obtain stereo is 'difficult', and the stereo lamp doesn't seem to illuminate fully and its luminance is modulated by the program material and this gets worse/greater at higher volumes.

Is the discriminator in adjustment?

I certainnly had to tweak the coils on my Goodmans Module 80's decoder.

Usual caveats, i.e. use a nonmetallic tool, don't twiddle more than +/- quarter turn, and mark the original position so you can return it if your adjustment didn't improve things.

I don't know if anything's in adjustment!

I'll have a careful fiddle.

Nick, "the coils" - which ones?
