Repairing flexible PCB on a video head - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

I have a JVC ideo where the ribbon going from the head to the amplifier has broken.

Has anyone successfully repaired these ribbon cables? In which case has anyone got some tips.

I HAVE repaired some but can't remember the details. I would have had conductive paint for repairing the remote controls in the shop so that might be what I used. I have sometimes laid a strand of flexible hookup wire in the paint, let it dry and then done another coat. Also sometimes I have glued a piece of copperless PC board across a break to take the flex away from it. (on the back side). I don't know whether you're talking audio or video head here, but the repair would be similar, Also if dealing with a rotary transformer, I remember having to glue the windings back in the slots so they wouldn't scrape. We found the conductive paint very handy, the instructions warned that it was good for a short time but we found it was OK for months. That's the silver one, didn't find the carbon one as good.
