Various HAM/old army identification help
Good morning,
Here I have a few things that I've had passed down, and cannot seem to find to much about them. Any help would be greatly appreciated to help me get them in to the right place. |

Re: Various HAM/old army identification help
The rating plate on the old transformer seems to say that the secondary is 15v 30A which could make it rather popular, if in working condition.
The first photo may well be another CRT tester/reactivator. The third photo is of a Solartron AC voltmeter. About 1970 vintage. What's unusual is that it is true RMS responding. In that era this normally meant that it had a thermal converter in it, somewhere after an amplifier chain. These things all look to have been stored in damp conditions, so they are likely to be major restoration jobs to get them going. Non of them are sealed, so the water damage will be internal as well. Re: Various HAM/old army identification help
I'll echo David's caution about being stored in damp conditions. If that's the case - dump them at the back of an airing cupboard & forget them for a month.
If you're considering firing them up - use an isolation transformer & a Variac - for safety. Anything that might contain a Battery - remove it's manky remains. Regards, David |

Re: Various HAM/old army identification help
Forum member GMB has a pdf manual for the Solartron VM1484 voltmeter, probably best to PM him if you need it as it doesn't appear to be on his new website at the moment.
