Default Can someone help identify this PAM record player/radio?

Hi All

I've just obtained this PAM record player/radio in a house clearance. It's still working but I'd love to know which model it is and if it has any value.

Many thanks
Andy

Seems to be very similar to this Pam radiogram, no idea of it’s value but will very likely require some repair to save future damage to hard to get components.

This is a badge engineered version of the Pye Stereogram model (G?? - I should know but can't remember!) that was loosely based on the Pye G63. A very rare version and a super sounding unit. These were more expensive to build than the standard Pye model using a steam formed enclosure. Looks lovely. Well worth restoring!

A bit tatty, but as Edward says, the curvy woodwork and metal stand do indeed make it have the potential to look lovely, in a "modern retro" way, which may make it worth rather more than the few tens of pounds most 60s radiograms are worth on a good day.

Service data for the 5210 is in the Service Data at the top of the page.

Andy,
it's definitely a Pam 5210, as Frank says.
I don't have good photos for one of these radiograms in my archives as I've never seen one. So if you are able to take more photos I would be most grateful. I am currently upgrading my website and hope to have a lot more info on the new version soon!

Feel free to PM me and we can exchange details.

Sadly it does not have any great value. Radiograms are no longer seen as desireable. But a stereo unit like this, with single-ended ECL86 output would still make a lovely sound if you can get the deck cleaned and lubricated, as long as the cartridge is working.

thanks
Jeremy

ECL86s? I thought this used the same Pye chassis with 1 x ECC83 and 2 x EL84s?
I would hate to query our resident PAM expert, but I did think that this had just started production at the same time that the ECL86 was launched....

Thanks everyone, that's very useful. The radio does indeed produce a lovely sound. The deck still spins but I didn't want to run it long and damage anything.
I will investigate having it restored and post some 'after' pictures.

You'll have to question the manufacturer's service info too!

Thanks. This being the case, then this model must have been produced later than the Pye version. In the "Mullard Outlook", which was Mullard's Trader magazine, showed the ECL86 launch as at Summer 1962, so this PAM model must have come into production sometime later.

Pye used two similar model numbers, G66 and G66A. The G66 uses EL84s and the G66A ECL86s. The PAM 5210 is the later version.
