Default Panasonic NV-FS90 problem.

Panasonic NV-FS90

Problems:
1. Audio stops efter 1-2 seconds (Video is perfect).
2. Counter stop at 0:00:00 at Play (will fix this later).

Well... with some help on this forum on how to fix the sound I need to change the C2311 (1µF), I think it was.
I'm completley lost.. can I use any Capacitor 1µF 400V or do I need a specific one? Size matters, i guess.

I do have a Panasonic nv-fs200 (with good sound/audio output, bad picture, even after cleaning and makes a lot of noise) as a "spare parts"-machine.

Any tips, fix, pics and documents?

Thanks!

Hi Garr Garr,

I suspect you are referring to this thread: https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=168784

where a 1uF 400v cap was replaced because the power supply was not starting up.

Your fault doesn't sound like the same as in the above thread. I'm no expert on these things but I wouldn't bother replacing the one in the power supply if your video output is operating normally. Other more knowledgeable forum members will no doubt give you advice on your problem.

The service manual is available here.

Peter

Size does not matter ,if the capacitor is correct value and voltage rating.Of course the capacitors on the Secondary side of the power supply do cause trouble and a few odd faults. You do need caps rated at 105C.

Is this the issue perhaps Taken from posting #20 in https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/....php?t=57668:-

Panasonic NVFS90B

The complaint was no playback sound. This was not quite accurate:
there was sound, but only for a second or so; and, after failing, it
could be restored by putting the deck into reverse search then back
into play. The counter was also erratic, working in fast wind but
tending to freeze during standard play.
Having waded through much of the sound and system control circuitry
I eventually found that C2311 on the servo card had fallen in value
from 1µF to 10nF. As a result the microcontroller chip IC6001 pulled
down the mute lines from pins 12 and 14 to the main audio chip IC4501,
via pin 65. A.S

First locate C2311 in the servo circuit, remove it (noting the polarity), and then fit a like-for-like replacement. For example, if the body of the capacitor has, say, 1uf 50v printed on it, then a good quality 1uf cap with a voltage rating of 50v or above will be fine. Note the temperature rating also (85c or 105c).

*EDIT* the thread linked above is the answer to all of your prayers!

Hi.

Yes the issue is the same as the link thst af024 points at (#20)
But I can't rewind to fix the audio.
Pushing paus then play works but only in 1-2 sec. then goes quiet again.

But the problem is on the servo circit then.
I will get back hehe soon.

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback and links.
Looks like the problems is fixed with the help here.

It was the servo board. One soldier-point was cracked.

The counter is still to be fixed but I think I will fix that later on.

Thanks guys!

Thumbs up Re: Panasonic NV-FS90 problem.

Hi, my gratitude for the solution, it worked perfect for me. Yesterday I repaired one with ten years of unused storage, for this problem!
These excellent machines still are using up today, basically to capture VHS tapes.
This one also have a problem with the video output, I am working in it yet.

Thanks a lot!
