Default Deleting private messages

Ho do I delete PMs on the forum? Can’t find an option to do so? I bet this is just one mouse click away. I have nearly 200 messages dating back a few years.

Just select the message(s) using the tick boxes on the RH side, then scroll down, and on the bottom right, change the "move to folder..." dropdown to "delete". Then click "go".

HTH,

Nick.

At least you're a long way off the point when the forum starts nagging you!

You can also delete them individually by viewing it, scrolling to the botton of the page and using the options there. For clearing out messages though the method Nick described is quicker.

Why is the inbox set by default to "move to folder" and the sent to "delete"? I recently cleared out my PM folder, took ages, wish there was a "delete all read" like on my mobile phone. Yes I know i should delete regularly but who does?

I really wish there was a "search" option too, the amount of times I've had to trawl through pages of PM's looking for one PM with an address. If I could look up "Davetherave" for instance that would be nice. One sometimes gets around 20 PM's about a bit of gear, these being mixed in with scores of other PM's. These being observations not criticisms.

Andy.

A partial answer is that the "sent" items can't be moved to a folder - only those in the inbox. Unfortunately, this seems to be a "feature" of the forum software. I appreciate that this doesn't answer why "delete" can't be the default for inbox.

I agree that this would be useful to be able to move received PMs to a folder, and don't know why they can't, but that's how the software is.

I would assume it is so the default option is the less destructive one, so if chosen by mistake it can be undone. Again though that's just how the software is.
