Re: Bush TV 12B To restore or not to restore advice please
Thanks everyone.
I have had the set working for about a hour. It’s pretty stable and I got a good picture with most controls set about half way. If I turn up the contact the picture goes cloudy befor expanding and Disappearing I turn the brightness up it expands and goes very faint. Does this matter as I’m getting a good picture with the knobs set near the middle. The picture is better than my photo . do Both of you still recommend I do the Paxlin mod . If you do I will take your advice Andy

Sounds from your description, the set is as good as it can be now.

Re: Bush TV 12B To restore or not to restore advice please
It does appear to be a good picture with the contrast and brightness controls set mid for normal viewing, typical TV12. If you're happy with it I would leave it at that. It's not as if it is going to be used as it would have done back in 1950.
If you ever need the Paxolin panel just give me a PM. John. |

My set has had a good few hours use since restoration and has had no problems, this was the first Bush set to use flyback EHT, cutting edge stuff at the time, although the Pye B18 of the same year does not suffer the same problem & delivers a tad bit more EHT. Mark |

Re: Bush TV 12B To restore or not to restore advice please
Now got the tv put back together. After giving the cabinet a good polish it looks very nice. The picture I think is very good maybe not up to professional standards but in my eyes I’m very happy with it .
. One Photo is taken with a flouresent light on in the workshop and the picture is still nice and bright. Can I just thank everyone who has helped me With expert advice. Also Ed for the rewind of the LOPT and others who have supplied parts. It will be nice to tell the old lady I got it from that after all these years it’s finally working. Andy
