Default Can anyone identify this TV?

I recently inherited this TV - it is obvioulsy a Kolster Brandes; and I believe it dates from around 1953. Can anyone add to my limited knowledge please?

That looks to be in a nice condition. If you remove the hardboard back there should be a model number plate on the back of the chassis. Then see if it's listed on the link below. DON'T be temped to plug it in though until it has been checked over by a vintage TV expert, if you're not one yourself there will be plenty of advice available on this forum.

If it does work you won't recieve anything on it.
The last 405 TX was switched off in 1985.

Welcome ot the forum. You've got a handsome looking set there with a cabinet in very good condition. Echoing the advice of others: Don't switch it on. It could do expensive damage to the set. Your set works only on the obsolete 405 line system which closed down in 1985. It will not receive anything without a special converter which costs about £200. Many of us here operate sets of this vintage and older still - just look at some of the threads in the this section of the forum.

I can't immediately identifiy the set but it's a little later than 1953. AS far as I can tell from the photos it has a 13 channel tuner which places it as 1955 or later, after the start of ITV.

The set is a K B model MV40. This 13 channel set will be of 1956 vintage.

Following Greg's advice I've had the back off and the model number is an MF50, which from the site Greg gave the link to puts it at September 1955.

And according to data means it has the unmodified MV60 chassis installed, ERT sheet 1042. & Trader 1250.

There was a table version the 'MV60' and your console the 'MV50', It has a Brimar C17FM CRT a Mazda CRM174 is its equiv

Edit:

Also in Radio & Television servicing 1956-1957 page 455 (for those that have them)

If you need the data (service sheet) just ask

The chassis in the MF50 is the unmodified MV60 chassis, so not a fringe modification. I Checked the ERT, Trader and R&TS and that seems to confirm it too.
