G Deck ACE heads
Quick question which I have not been able to find out the answer to. The early G decks had a different looking ACE head compared with models after 1988. Same type as the D deck. Are these interchangeable or do they have different electrical properties? I know impedance matching is very important with heads so thought I'd ask.
Thanks for any input. |

Re: G Deck ACE heads
I seem to recall the earlier ones using brown push on connectors, and later ones using ribbon cables. Can't comment on the head properties though I'd be very surprised if there were differences.

Re: G Deck ACE heads
There are three types of the G mechanism. G, G-rev and G2. My NV-G40 (G) had the same ACE head as my NV-FS200 (G2). I have the service manuals for all these decks so I will check later.

Re: G Deck ACE heads
Thanks for the input. Any info appreciated. Just a quick caution, don't use a cellar if you have one for storage of electrical items. I have some Tv's and test kit in mine and most likely all ruined from next door having a burst water main. I'm so pleased that I have my best VCR decks upstairs.
