JVC HR-D120EM not accepting tape!
Hello (again). I have a JVC VCR model HR-D120EM which died just yesterday! The machine powers on but I can't insert a cassette in. If I insert the cassette manually by turning the gears, the machine recognizes it but when I press play, The solenoid clicks but the tape loading motor doesn't take any voltage at all! I checked the main and the secondary power supply voltages and all of them are fine according to the service manual. Any thoughs? Thanks

Just an idea, check for loose connectors on bottom board, had two machines that have failed after belt changes because quite a few connectors are removed to gain access.

Hi Fivos
Sorry to butt in on your thread I used to repair video recorders in the distant past and found JVC machines do have a habit of blowing circuit protectors just for the hell of it. They are usually in the power supply and look like a bit like a transistor but with only two legs. |

Thanks cubdiesel44. Here's some pictures of the machine and the power supply schematic.

Hi
Often the circuit protectors are additional to the manual. They are designated CP and often just fail. The confusing number is x 400mA - e.g N(or F)15 is 600mA, N38 is 1.5A and so on. Glyn |

Hi Welsh. The regulator PCB on the back of the machine blew a 2.5A fuse yesterday and I replaced it with a 4A one. Is it electricaly safe now or will it cause problems (damage, electrocution, fire)?

It is always best to replace the fuse with the exact type.
Should a short circuit occur the correct fuse will blow instantly. |

Yes! That's the problem! I read the service manual carefully and I found that there's an ICP-F15 circuit protector on the bottom PCB (Mechacon, audio, servo). I checked it with my multimeter and it is open. Do you know where to find a replacement? Thanks.
