The next TV restoration?
As I am nearing the completion of my TV22, I am wondering which of my sets to tackle next.
The candidates are: Bush TV12B from 1949, all in tact but with broken tube (I have a replacement). Bush TV32 from 1953, complete minus back but with crack in top of cabinet. Pye B18T from 1948, all in tact but cabinet will require some attention. I thought I would let the forum decide for me! Mark |

Re: The next TV restoration?
The Bush TV32 is very rare. Similar appearance to the more common 13 channel TV62.

I vote on the Pye, not seen the width set that far out.

Re: The next TV restoration?
I vote Bush TV12 - with the TV22 fresh in your mind it'll be interesting to make a comparison , plus it'll then give you some time in which to find replacements for the sliders on the Pye !

Re: The next TV restoration?
The Pye is in the lead so far, and no worries about the sliding pots, I have a scrap LV20 chassis with good pots

Re: The next TV restoration?
The Pye looks like in interesting set and that looks like a nicely finished cabinet..Pye gets my vote.

Re: The next TV restoration?
I vote for the Bush TV12. As Jon says, with the TV22 fresh in your mind, You will see immediately, the difference that 2-3 years of development made in the early days of post war TV.

I vote for the Bush TV12 as you have recently done the TV22.

Re: The next TV restoration?
A vote for the TV32 from me. As David says, quite a rare set compared to the others.

Re: The next TV restoration?
Hmm, a tough one.
The TV32 is in many respects similar to the TV22, but with a more reliable lopty. So on balance, I think the PYE would be a more interesing change. A change from minature IF valves to nice red EF50s and a change from neat tag boards to a birds nest of components. So yes, the PYE gets my vote. BTW I'm not sure if it is something to do with the lacquer they used, but the B18T and LV20 etc. seem to scratch really easily... Cheers Andy

Re: The next TV restoration?
So far the Pye is in the lead with 5 votes, the TV12 is a close second with four votes and the TV32 has two votes.
I will restore the set that has the most votes by midnight tonight! Mark |

Re: The next TV restoration?
If it is a choice between the Bush TV12 and that awful Pye, there I've said it, I'd choose the Bush. Suburb construction quality, even better than the TV22.

Re: The next TV restoration?
I see the TV12 is in the lead with 7 votes, closely followed by the Pye with 6 votes. The TV32 has gone back on the roundtuit pile!
The voting concludes at midnight Mark |
