Powering a Sony Trinicon Camera
I'm just wondering what's possible in the modern world to compactly power a Sony Trinicon (or similar) camera. How much power did these things need?
I saw this guy has stipped the umbilical cord and attached adapters that allow him to bypass the hefty VCR/Charger: http://samsmods.blogspot.co.uk/2013/...s-working.html He's attached a tamiya connector for the power - but what would be safe and appropriate to connect to it for power? I found a guy on YouTube had rigged a Trinicon up to a car battery, but that's not a particularly portable solution! |

My Fisher/Sanyo portable Betamax has the same K-type connector. It should be safe to power it up using 12 volts.

Re: Powering a Sony Trinicon Camera
I don't know about the Sony camera you mention, I have a collection of JVC cameras which have a similar connector, and they all run happily off a simple 12v power supply. They draw less than an amp so a 7812 regulator will suffice.

Re: Powering a Sony Trinicon Camera
Sony used 4-way XLR connectors for powering much of their equipment, so I'd suggest that as a sort of standard, which would be compatible with the proper battery boxes and PSUs if rquired in the future.

Re: Powering a Sony Trinicon Camera
I have a Panasonic tube camera and the power rating is 12 volts and 8.1 W so that will be under 1 amp.
