Cardboard Telly
Not vintage but alluding to it, I spotted this shop window display this morning at the Lush store in Westfield Stratford. The cabinet appears to be made of cardboard and no idea what's inside but it was certainly effective.

Re: Cardboard Telly
A very good friend of mine once spotted shop manequins that had reel-to-reel tape recorders for heads. On closer inspection it was obvious that they were cardboard, including the slowly rotating spools! But they were convincing from a distance.

Re: Cardboard Telly
There were, of course, some genuine sets with cardboard cabinets, particularly the early 'portables'.

Re: Cardboard Telly
Looks as though they have selected features from several different sets - effective though.

Re: Cardboard Telly
If that's a 'real' telly inside that cardboard housing, don't be surprised if the next time you walk past the place it is a smouldering ruin! Hope they've allowed some ventilation.
