Philips widescreen A10E (yes, I know!)
This set (28PW6305) on powerup, has suddenly started emitting a full-volume blast of static, like a detuned white noise signal but harsher.
The image is OK. Changing AV modes only affects it slightly. The volume control has no effect. Varying the g2 pot does, however, influence the intensity, leading me to think it may be LOPT/supply-related, almost as if there's a kind of sound-on-vision type fault. Never seen it before, just hoping the main micro - usual problem on these - is not the culprit! No obvious drys or discharge from the LOPT. Any thoughts welcome.

Sounds like the painter IC? Enter the service mode and check errors.

Re: Philips widescreen A10E (yes, I know!)
Hi Ben
If you need a painter chip I have a complete painter PCB that I used to use for test purposes but is now redundant. It is an EDD V 1.0 which if memory serves was the one for the basic TV. It is yours for the cost of postage if you need it. You can make a small donation (directly) to the Vintage Wireless and TV museum if you like but it is not mandatory. Colin M |
