Ferguson 606T crt
Hi,
A while back I wrote in a previous thread about problems with the fireball tuner on this set. To gain access to the tuner the chassis with the tube had to be removed from the cabinet. I noticed that the tube was not securely clamped. How much of the centre of the top and bottom of the tube should protrude forward of the clamp and rubber band? Thanking iyou in advance, Des.

Hello Des,
I will nip the chassis out of mine and have a measure up for you. Try to do it today. J. |

Re: Ferguson 606T crt
As you can see from the pictures, with a length of wood square upright touching the dead centre of the CRT it measures exactly two inches to the edge of the sealing band. The real problem is getting it SQUARE within the mask. The early 110 degree tubes were almost circular as the designers were worried about the possible risk of implosion with such a shallow tube due to the sresses caused by 'sharp' corners. This makes them somewhat difficult to get square within the clamp band. Hope this helps, John.
