Thanks David- a fascinating piece of history. I wonder why stabilised circuits took so long to catch on more generally? I guess Gerry could just have included some of the feedback components, to reduce the drive even if he didn't want to go the full stabilisation route. I want to change what he did as little as possible so I think I'll just leave it with reduced EHT and call it a day.

Hi Steve
Not Gerry's set but I'm thinking of the Bush TV53 series might be the ideal set to try out the line stabilising circuit.
Peto-Scott was the only firm in the mid-fifties to apply these useful refinement to domestic TV set design.
Didn't Peto-Scott make TV monitors which is the type of equipment that would benefit from this type of line TB circuit.

Hi Steve
The line time base seems to be similar to the Basic circuits for the constructor in the Television Magazine Part 6 December 1971.

Hi Keith thanks for that. I should have that and I will look it up. Meanwhile here is an off screen picture. I've run it for several hours and it's pretty stable. I might tootle up the pincushion magnets a bit. I'm going to write it up for the BVWS mag. Thanks again to all who helped with identifying bits of it.
