Default Identify three TVs.

From documentaries about the slum clearance in East London and Birmingham in the 1960's.

The first one I think is an ULTRA V815 complete with band 3 converter.
The second a Sobell and the third an early post war KB, possibly an H series.
I love the old lady. Reminds me of my Grandma from Thornaby.
Regards, John.

People had very little and yet were happy in their own way. My Grandmother, who raised me, always said "If you're fed, clothed and have a roof over your head you're doing better than 90% of the people on earth"

A question John, in the last picture, what is the item on the stand in the background?

Do you mean the bird cage?

Cheers

It doesn't look like a slum to me!
Unless, that's the homes that replaced the less than desirable homes.
Onslow and Daisy's home! Too funny!

Yes the Budgerigars cage. They were a craze in the 1950's. I have often seen the wire cage used as an aerial. 'Joey' was the most popular name for the bird.

We had a 'Jo Jo' He used to drive us mad repeating the whole of the jingles from the early ITA adverts! We used to cover his cage with a cloth cover to shut him up. It was a long time ago.

[No, a lot of the flats and houses were kept in immaculate condition but because they were in a clearance area they were bundled into the scheme.[ An interesting subject but not for this Forum. John.

I think some clips from this were used in a documentary about 50 years of Milton Keynes made in 2017.

My Dad remembered his family having at least 2 budgies when he was growing up.

Ah that's what it is, whatever way I looked at it I thought it was some kind of microphone stand!

We had a budgie, and my Gran would call him Joey or Jo Jo depending on what humour she was in.

Thanks John.
