Presentation of philips VR2025 and philips VR2840 question
Hello,
I am the happy owner of a Philips VR2025 video recorder since 1982. Attached to this message are some recent photos of it. And I also have about 100 V2000 cassettes that I want to convert to digital. That is why I have bought a used philips VR2840 (with scart) but I don't have a user manual. Do you know how I can get a user manual for philips VR2840? Thank you very much in advance and best wishes for 2021. |

You might be pushing it for a manual but if you have one with a scart you are half way there, there is a number of usb devices that accepts video and l\r audio in an converts it to a format to put it on your hard drive. Or if you prefer it you can scart it to a hard drive recorder, there certainly is a large number of permutations you can use, I was a fan of V2000, hope it serves you well.

Yes, you are true. With the scart, the procedure is easy, but I don't know anything about the VR2840. For example, I don't know how to proceed to insert the cassette into the video. Can I do it by hand or do I need to press a button ?, or does the VR2840 have a "go to" function ?.
I am lost with this video. V2000 are very good machines but at the same time complicated and I would not like to break anything. Thanks for your reply. |

Right, not familiar with the model, but I have one or two sources for a manual, there may be a UK equivalent, will look. Whilst I was making this post the 2025, sure it's the one I know.

Hi,
I don't know enough about V2000 machines, but there is a youtube video of the VR2480 being used. it maybe that you need to press the eject key at the right hand side of the machine top get the cassette tray to open ? But I hope someone who knows these machines better can help you.

I have dementia so it's hard following posts but once I latch on to something I find it aids me to carry it through. But I can find nothing on a VR2025, please check model. Had nearly 50 years in the tv trade and we were Philips dealers and sold their machines from the N1500's. Please check the model.

Hi Tony the OP is from Spain so the model number may not exactly match UK models
Edit: the latter models seem to resemble the Grundig versions of the V2000 machines rather than Philips, just a thought.

Re: Presentation of philips VR2025 and philips VR2840 question
Hello,
Yes the Philips VR2025 is a clone of the Grundig 2x4 Super Video2000. If it's easier, the VR2025 should have a 6pin-din socket (Marked A/V) on the rear which also outputs video and audio for capture by computer/DVD recorder. You will need a 6-PIN-DIN adapter, probably a 6 pin din to 5pin din (audio) plus RCA (video), then a 5pin-din(audio) to RCA adapter so you can plug everything into the capture device (computer or DVD recorder) Good luck Rob |

Re: Presentation of philips VR2025 and philips VR2840 question
Bad news, my Philips VR2025 broke today. You just rewind nonstop and it have destroyed one of the cassettes. I will continue digitizing the V2000 cassettes with the Philips VR2840.
I have reviewed it completely and I cannot find the fault. I recently changed the straps. It's a shame Quote:

Re: Presentation of philips VR2025 and philips VR2840 question
Does anyone have a service manual for a video recorder Grundig 2x4?. I think that the Grundig 2x4 and the philips VR2025 are the same machine inside.
I'm trying to repair my philips VR2025. Do you know any company specialized in the repair of this type of video 2000. Thank you very much |

Re: Presentation of philips VR2025 and philips VR2840 question
Search "Grundig 2x4 video 2000 service manual." Elektrotanya have the German version.
Search "Grundig 2x4 super2 for YouTube tutorials on repairs. Search on this site for "Grundig video 2000." Lots of threads. I am sure that Television Magazine had a series of articles which described the machine and repairs in addition to the Philips video 2000. I'll do a search and report back. Stevehertz of this site was selling the user manual for £3 plus p&p which is below the new import duty and VAT rules for export to Europe. Good luck Chris |

Got it. See Television Magazine July 1984 to October 1984 inclusive for a detailed description and faults by Mike Phelan. Search "Television Magazine worldradiohistory" and click on Practical Television. Scroll down to the year and off you go.

Re: Presentation of philips VR2025 and philips VR2840 question
Those Grundig machines have a bit of a reputation for being less reliable than the later Philips models.
Tantalum capacitors and Roederstein electrolytics that go short circuit are a frequent occurence nowadays. |
