Retail antique dealers in particular tend to use very optimistic pricing for old radios. Partly this is down to a lack of expertise, and partly to the 'I saw you coming' attitude of many posh dealers as parodied by Harry Enfield.

These places generally sell stuff on behalf of other people and collect commission on the sale. If you make an offer they'll generally phone the seller to see if they'll accept it. I can't see the seller dropping the price from £200 down to about £50 though.

Apart from that I don't know whether the set has a back, whether it's a mains or battery model, or whether there are cracks in the case.

Price for the Astor confirmed as £220.00. Apparently it was "made in the 1920's and is in FWO".
