I once worked for a firm that used 169Mhz walkie talkies and when servicing them the battery sometimes got offered up to the board the wrong way round.
It took the top off the output transistor every time.
They had BeO in them so we just patted them down over the bin and changed the transistor.
We then just emptied the bin into the outside bin and got on with the next job.
