Re: Sourcing a belt for a Nakamichi 480 cassette machine
Nakamichi were originally imported by a photographic wholesalers, Johnathan Fallowfield I think, then distributed by B & W who almost doubled the prices and charged a fortune for spares. The distribution was then taken over by Hi-Fi markets, a dealership/wholesale group and the prices halved back to near original. Don’t know what happened after Hi-Fi markets stopped trading although most independent dealers were still operating.
Spares from B & W — a small idler wheel with a rubber tyre about 15mm diameter cost £9, but the same part from Sansui, which included all the linkage parts was 60 pence. |

Re: Sourcing a belt for a Nakamichi 480 cassette machine
I tried phoning the B & W Becket Buildings shop and it redirected to the production site at Dale Road. They confirmed that the B & W shop is now permanently closed and additionally said that the Dale Road site do not provide any support for non B & W products.
