Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
don`t forget the screw at the thermal clamp to warm up the input plug
your C116 can be any, 10µF or more, 22, 47, all will do there.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
Congratulation, gentlemen!
Good job, Adam, and excellent advice, Martin! @ Martin: I like your collection of old scopes! The 575 is a very special item, today it seems to be impossible to find one in fair or restorable condition. Regards, Joe |

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
thank you.
It may be a good idea to ask in my community for a 575. Sometimes they give away when upgrading to 576 or higher. special tip: "mod 122c" is the 400 Volts Option, the normal 575 is up to 200V and can be lower expensive.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
"indicated beam direction" is actually set to manually. Turn it to " ---->"
set SWEEP TIME to 1 fuses must be tested OK. test again please. You have 3 Plugins there. Each of them have a own ILLUM pot for each channel it can work. Your SWOB is a 4 channels unit. The LIN/Log use 2 channels. The DC EMK IN use 1 Channel. The second plugin is for displaying 5 horizontal help lines, each of them have own POS, and there is a common ILLUM at the plugin. When getting the broken junk from the fuse turn OFF the SWOB ! there is 130 Volts. Get it with a isolated screw driver.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
It seems to me that something is still damaged, when I set it "---->, the backlight bulbs dim as if there was a short circuit somewhere, test time only 2-3 seconds, I don't have more 4A fuses

https://www.wellenkino.de/swob/swob-1.mp4 (MP4 video, 5MB 22sec)
it may be OK that the backlight dims a little, the deflection is magnetic and sucks 2 to 3A I want to know that the beam is moving from left to right now, follow the little film.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
the little theory of dimming illumination in a SWOB III.
That apparatus use a CRT what is strong related to a TV-Screen tube, means the deflection is made electromagnetic. That requires some high current, and high current can dimm the illum so much that you will see this. When the dots are full left or full right pos. the current is high, when the dots are near center, the current is low. SWOB use some 2N3055 to do that.. it`s hungry.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
I made the test only with horizontal lines amp,
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1P6x...w?usp=drivesdk when I set ---> my lighting is dim and my white point is lost, in test sweeper is not connected. |

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
When it is set to manually and you see the 3 dots there,
can you move them left and right with the <---> pot? I think you must learn how that works first. btw. I will not open cloudfiles without access, find a better way.

Re: Polyskop swob 3 Rohde & Schwarz
have seen, thank you.
I think you have repaired the SWOB and it is now working. Remember, this is important: Each vertical plugin, Linlog and aby other also, have own pot for INTENSITY. repeat the test following my little film and check the INTENS pot at the LinLog or the DC IN Plugin. When that is low adjusted you will not find a point or line anywhere. For examples. Single channel DC IN Plugin, That have a pot for INTENS and a Pot for the vertical position. Learn what they do. SWOB have a lot of knobs, yes, but it is a system and easy to understand. Almost ever you have a INTENS, a VERTICAL POSITION and a SENSITIVITY for the signal input. The must be adjusted for the test: INTENS: enough that you see the dot. VERT. POSITION: The dot must be on the screen, not upside or downside away. please test the SWOB is a system what can display up to 4 channels on the screen. So you must not remove plugins what are not in use, make them dark in the intens and use another.
