Battersea Power Station
I was tempted to link this into into yesterdays Repair Shop Philips radio thread but others may have power staton info to add. Coincidentally there was an item 0n BBC rolling news about the former Control Room A within what is [now] an amazing housing developement.
This is described as a future Event Space of great historical significance. Missing controls have been painstakingly replicated via 3D Printing and the similar colour reproduction dial techniques as used with the Radio Set but on a grander scale. Dave W PS They pointed out a Distribution Board that supplied Buckingham Palace titled "Carnaby Street". Last edited by dave walsh; 2nd Jul 2022 at 2:32 pm. |

Re: Battersea Power Station
Yes Art Deco hence listed. I recorded the news report by accident but it's probaly viewable on the News 24 website. Apparently later control rooms are much more utilitarian The new tube station may something to see as well. The one opened near Tate Modern is in my opinion!

Re: Battersea Power Station
Hi Folks, a very similar control room was located in the top floor of Carliol House in central Newcastle.
This controlled the NESCo (North East Supply Co) system that was the forerunner of the National Grid. Sadly the building remains but the control room was not listed and was scrapped Ed |
