Default Ekco sh25

Hi all,

I have just restarted the sympathetic repair/restoration of my EKCO SH25. I started it back in 2010 but had to pack it away - partially dismantled shortly after.

It is now back on the bench - along with the many notes and diagrams I made to start with. I have been able to label all the floating wires that hadn't been marked so I know where everything goes.

I was interested at the time to read the article in the BVWS Bulletin (Volume 37 No.2 Summer 2012 written by Matt Spanner about his restoration of the same model.

I have tried emailing him for some information but received no reply, maybe the email address posted on his website is no longer being used? The email I sent didn't bounce back so the mail address must be still valid, but perhaps no longer used.

Does anyone know how to contact him?

I would appreciate any help as I have a couple of specific questions which I am sure he could answer.

Hi,

I have removed the (very large 3 gang tuning capacitor from the set) and it is very dirty, tried cleaning with an airline but most of the dirt stays put.

I did consider putting it in the dishwasher but am concerned that the dishwasher tablets would be too harsh on the aluminium.

Additionally I would need to remove the drive cord etc.

I do have an ultrasonic cleaner but it is too small - I knew I should have bought the larger model!

Any suggestions please good folk as to go ahead and clean it, it is quite blackened and really does need a clean.
