Re: Ferguson 247T: huge console TV set.
Hello,
I've never come across those red body colour resistors. Any idea who made them? Regards, Dazzlevision |

Re: Ferguson 247T: huge console TV set.
Hi Dazzelvision, The tuner was made in Germany and after dismantling it was certainly evident that it has that "Continental" look about it. All the screws are metric.
Those red resistors might have been sourced from Philips. They all measure spot on, not bad for sixty years. The carbon composition resistors were found to be well out of tolerance. The maker of the tuner is unknown. Could be NSF or R E Hopt? DFWB. |

Re: Ferguson 247T: huge console TV set.
Dismantling, cleaning, checking the solder joints and finally reassembling the tuner has proven well worthwhile. Guaranteed reliable operation now.
However, after the set warmed up a new fault manifested itself, no line lock. I was expecting the worst, a faulty line discriminator transformer perhaps,? The sort of thing you don't want to happen. Turned out to be a nice easy fix, the EB91 line flywheel discriminator valve was faulty. A replacement solved the problem. How often do you ever have to replace an EB91? DFWB. |
