Well done roger.
I `ve never known any one rewind a voltage dropper before but you`ve done it and it works.
It`s useful to known that the wire is still available.
I will consider this option the next time I come across an o/c dropper.

Hi Robin,
Repairing this resistor is not a big deal once you have found the suitable resistive wire to use and make the proper calculation to get the correct value and cut the length for each section.
I can give you the link to the suppliers on eBay.com if you will.
Regards,
Roger
Note: as far as I know, the resistive wire used by PYE for this dropper is no more available. What I see from the remaining pieces of the original wire, it was about 67ohm/m with a diameter of more less 0.2mm.
The approaching resistive wire on the market: 63ohm/m is far too thin(0.1mm diam or less) to resist the 300mA current and overheat.

For those of you tempted by this topic of rewinding main dropper, here after an interesting page about the characteristics of the resistive wires I used for doing this job.

.. And found a nice blue paint to put it same as the PYE original dropper.. It can support up to 800°C. I will test it this week-end.

I would like to correct what I said in a previous message. The total heaters voltage for the LV30 is around 160v and not 155,6v. Anyway the set is doing well with 156v..
