Question Loudspeaker Bass Driver repairs

Are there any UK based companies that can repair voice coils / surrounds or recone larger drive units?
There was a company called Wembely Loudspeaker which repairs drive units but not sure if they are still trading?
I have four 18" JBL 2245H bass drivers that need to be fitted with new surrounds
Thanks
Simon

Don't know about JBL's, but was wondering if replacement kits are available. I replaced the surrounds on a couple of Tannoy HPS385's and it was surprisingly easy to do.

A refoam kit appears to be available in the US

It would almost certainly be worth contacting a loudspeaker repair specialist - I was surprised how cheap repairs were when I last had some repaired although the place that I used to go to is no longer around.

I found a few places - http://www.loudspeaker-design-restoration.co.uk/ & https://wilmslowaudio.co.uk/ &
https://surreyamps.co.uk/services/sp...epair-reconing & https://gtelectronics.co.uk/services...epair-service/ that's four of about 20 I found. Just put "loudspeaker repair UK" into DuckDuckGo.

I have used Wembley loudspeakers in the past to repair my Spendor base units and as mentioned Wilmslow audio should also be able to help or advise.

Despite Harman ownership, last time I bought a re-cone kit for similar JBL drivers (which Wembley installed for me), JBL were able to boast that they could supply re-cone kits for every driver back to the 1950s. I am sure they will have a kit for yours if you know the part no. The tricky bit will be importing it from the USA. The drivers Wembley did for me still work like new - over 10 years after the job.

Wembley aren't the sort of firm that needs to advertise their existence. If you need their services, you need their services!

I've recommended Dave Smith in Hornchurch here a few times, but I am fairly sure he's now retired. He can definitely repair the drivers and has done sterling work for me.

Here's his info if you want to try calling him: https://www.oxrecs.com/spendor.htm

edit - Google reviews suggest Wembley is going stronger than ever, with much client satisfaction.

Just heard back from Paul

We will be discussing my Bass drivers next week.

So hoping I may be able to make use of them?

For anyone wanting to re-cone a speaker I will have various sizes of cones on sale at Retrotch on Sunday. I will not be posting them. The cones and spiders will be on table 2 near the main public entrance with our backs to the wall.

Goods news and hopefully can get it sorted for you. They did my Spendor bass/mid units some years back when i had an 'accident' with my 303 rebuild...
