Re: Hitachi model CP2044
From memory no, but look for any evidence of a remote sensor on the front.

Re: Hitachi model CP2044
I think you have got a misprint in the model number, perhaps it should be CPT2044. The service manual does not show any remote control circuitry or handset.

Re: Hitachi model CP2044
No - this was a manual set, with those fiddly little silver buttons - I used to replace them on a regular basis and may still have some left. For information, the CPT 2046 was the remote version and 2048 the text, both having a slot-in remote control. The CPT2074,6,8 series was virtually identical - howver the CPT2174 was, confusingly, totally different.

Re: Hitachi model CPT 2044
If my memory is correct, on the Remote version, the RCU could be inserted in a little opening at the front, for safekeeping.

Re: Hitachi model CPT 2044
You're right, but it was for more than safe keeping as it had edge controls as well as the conventional top ones. Without it slotted in, the TV had no manual controls. Elderly customers had trouble holing the remote control without accidentally pressing these edge controls. However, the OP's TV is a manual set. Very reliable too, with the degausiing posistor being the main problem, along with the odd dry joint and the chrome finish control strips.
