Foil/Tinsel leads.
Hi Guys, I've just aquired a nice pair of ex-govmt headphones unused and dating from about the 1940's, however they don't have any termination on the leads and are the dreaded foil type wires, does anyone know of a good way of connecting to this stuff as it seems to break off fairly easily?? TIA

Hi Mike, I think this site explains the procedure perfectly :-

Re: Foil/Tinsel leads.
Brilliant! Thanks for pointing this out.
This is also just the job for plaited telephone leads, which also use "tinsel" wire. I have some which had lost their loops (presumably as a result of a long lead being chopped in half to make two shorter ones), to which I have managed to solder spade terminals, but it would be nice to return them to their original state, complete with colour-coded cotton binding.
