Actually, the suggestion of a set-top box you also got is better still. I hadn't thought of that!
What you're looking for is something which makes a composite video signal to play with. A set top box will be conveniently small and a lot safer than most tellies were. Be careful about switch mode power supplies which might have exposed mains inside of them, but you should find video signals available via either phono or SCART connectors. David
