Does anyone have any information on this telephone. I cannot find any information anywhere.

It is a GEC telephone with a 'direct call' unit used on PAX/PABXs.

No I had not seen that - thank you it is most helpful. I guess these must be rare has any one actually seen one - or have diagrams for one by any really long shot.

Yes, I've seen one back in its era. There was one (without the bottom box) in the R&D manager's office at HP South Queensferry in the 1970's.

There was a PABX allowing phones in the plant to dial each other or to dial out. There wasn't automatic dial in. Incoming calls went to two operators and a switchboard in a small room on the south wall of the building.

One day, on the ground floor, someone stripping out an area for a refurb, cut some old cables out of the way... all the incoming phone lines! To keep the plant open legally, I was told, needed phone access in case of need for 999. So one of the maintenance staff had to go see the people in the cottage at the bottom of the drive and ask if they would be in for the rest of the day and would make an emergency call if we needed one! A factory of approaching a thousand people designing and making test equipment for telephone systems!

I assumed John was referring to the Direct Call unit as the rarity. The LST4 isn't particularly rare - in fact, I have an LST4D (dial) and LST4E (push-button) sat next to me as I type.

Thanks for letting me know its a direct call unit with an LST4. I actually have a version of the LST2 with a direct call unit built in. Initially I was after some data on that and someone emailed me the picture I originally posted.

I have not been able to get much technical information on the LST2 and wondered if there was any more information available on the direct call unit and/or the LST4 (Such as a complete circuit diagram) - or even a diagram of the jumpers in the LST2 (with or without the call unit).
