Default "Turret" tuner

Out of interest would any members know which was the first comms. set to be credited with using the "Turret" type tuner ie: B40 etc.?

Thanks.

I can't answer your question, but two other Rx's which come to mind are the R206 and the DST100.

I'd guess the DST100 was one of the first (in the UK). I think it was designed in 1938.

I had a small marine receiver called the Gothic Seafarer
which had a turret tuner. Half of the receiver was gutted, so
I fitted the turret in place of the PA Capacitor in an old 19 Set.
Not many people have had a general coverage 19 Set!!

1938 would make the DST 100 is a very good candidate but like everything else about this set the turret was fairly massive and probaly much more substantial than anything that came later. I seem to remember it requiring considerable effort-not at all like later RX's. The Tuning Dial, for example, resembles a half inch thick brake drum . The case is more cast than sheet metal compared with say, an AR88. I think it was designed to take a direct hit and carry on!

National had the NC-100 series in the 1930 range. Big heavy cast egg carton travelled across the bottom of the RX with the coils enclosed.

I have seen at least 1 US made set using the turret tuner and a few Grundig sets from maybe the 60's(?).
Nothing as old as the 30's though
