Default KW2000B valves.

Hello,
Just have this tranceiver:

Two tubes are very strange to me.
x13
x12
One says Brookes 456.46 8/71, the other is partly readable Brookes 64 0/70.

What is the purpose of these tubes?

All info is welcome about this trx.

Regards carlos

They are quartz crystals? Probably carrier oscillators.

I don't know much about KW's but I do know Brookes made quartz crystals - abbreviated as Xtal - which these sound like especially as you refer to X12 & X13 which again would indicate (X)tal to me. Last clue is the marking 456.46 - this is the frequency in KHz and 8/71 will be August 1971. Lots of xtals were made in glass holders the same size as B7G. PLEASE don't apply any high voltage to these !

Probably best you download a manual before applying power to the set. The items are the USB and LSB carrier crystals as already stated.

And from memory the entire schematic/operating/service-guide is available on the VMARS website.
